Jayden’s story
Jayden Sawyer won bronze on his World Championships debut in 2013 and represented Australia at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. A year later in London, he threw 52.96 metres to win the men’s F38 javelin world title and set a world record. He went on to compete at the World Championships in Dubai and represent Australia again at the Tokyo Paralympic Games.
Jayden knows what it takes to prepare for a big competition, handle the pressure when it arrives and get back to work when the result falls short of what you wanted. Away from athletics, he’s built a career in sales and runs a sportswear manufacturing and distribution business. He brings that experience, alongside his work mentoring young athletes, to conversations about what it takes to build a life in and around sport.
What Jayden brings as a mentor
Jayden helps young athletes turn a big ambition into something they can work on this week. If you’re heading into an important competition, he can help you build a routine you trust. If the result doesn’t go your way, he can help you work through what happened, decide what’s in your control and agree on a practical next step.
He also understands the value of having someone in your corner when progress feels slow. With Jayden, you’ll set goals together, talk honestly about what’s getting in the way and check in on what’s working. His experience in sport and business gives him a perspective he can share with athletes who are figuring out what they want to pursue, both in sport and beyond it.
