Harry’s story
At 19, Harry Perry packed up his life on the Sunshine Coast and moved to Sydney to join Wests Tigers on an Elite Pathways contract. After years of being overlooked, he’d earned a chance to develop inside an NRL club. Taking it meant leaving his family and the people he’d leaned on to get there.
Harry grew up playing halfback. As he got taller, he moved into the forwards, where he had to learn a different role while holding on to the ball-playing skills he’d developed in the halves. He spent two seasons in the Sunshine Coast Falcons’ Mal Meninga Cup program and completed a full Hostplus Cup pre-season as he worked towards senior footy.
For much of that journey, Harry felt ready for opportunities that didn’t come. It’s hard to keep backing yourself when you’re putting in the work and the people making selection decisions haven’t seen enough yet. Harry kept showing up and developing his game. The Wests Tigers offer gave him a chance to see how far he could take it.
Now he’s settling into a new city, earning his place in a new squad and learning what it takes to move from pathways footy towards the NRL. That’s the stage of the journey he’s living right now.
What Harry brings as a mentor
Harry can help you get clear on what you want from your sport and build a plan you can follow week to week. That might mean setting a goal that matters to you, building habits that hold up when school and training get busy, or finding a way to reset when a rough game knocks your confidence.
He brings a big-brother perspective. You can talk honestly about pressure, self-doubt or feeling like you’re falling behind. Harry can help you put a tough week in perspective, work out what’s within your control and choose one thing you can do about it.
Together, you’ll decide what progress looks like for you. When you check in again, you’ll look at what worked, what got in the way and what to change next.
